Google introduces new disavow tool to the public

Earlier in the year, Google unveiled its Penguin algorithm update, which targeted websites that use poor linking strategies to garner greater search engine optimization (SEO) value on the web.

However, some online marketing professionals and small business owners failed to realize how unfavorable weak linkbacks are in Google's eyes, and after Penguin was put into effect, hundreds of websites fell out of view. Of course, the uproar across the nation was impossible to ignore, and Google instructed webmasters on how to rebound from damages. The main objective laid out by Google was the removal of spam linkbacks.

The search engine released a new tool yesterday which makes it easier for webmasters to remove unfavorable linkbacks from their websites. The disavow links tool gives site owners the right to request to disavow links on specific pages. The webmaster creates a single account, then compiles the type of links he or she wants removed, which includes all pages from one domain or just individual pages. The file can be downloaded, edited and submitted multiple times for approval, and Google will disavow links over time.
