Three modern marketing mistakes to avoid

Times are changing in the business world as a wave of technological advances affect the way people interact. In order to keep up, companies are having to adapt new online marketing strategies. To get ahead, here are three mistakes today’s businesses should avoid in the new era:

1. Unbalanced real world and online relationships
The internet is important for promoting brands, but human contact continues to be just as beneficial. The Search Engine Journal (SEJ) blog suggests, in addition to having an online presence, it is advantageous to create in-person contacts and pursue a business relationship with them.

2. Lack of SEO content
SEJ reported that a company blog with SEO content can enhance a company’s website ranking, if done correctly, and bring in interested consumers. The 2012 Social Media Marketing Industry Report by Social Media Examiner shows 67 percent of B2B marketers used SEO practices, with 65 percent of marketers overall using SEO techniques for their company.

3. Not understanding weight of social networking
Statistics show that social media is helping companies grow and becoming a large part of businesses’ marketing strategies. Eighty-five percent of marketing respondents for the Social Media Examiner report said social media has increased exposure for their brand, and 69 percent said they saw more people visiting their website.
