Online marketing platforms saw online video become increasing popular and subsequently change the way people interacted with information on the internet in 2012. Social networking sites saw users rapidly sharing videos across networking platforms, and marketing professionals took the opportunity to adopt online video as one of their own tactics.
A recent report by online video communications company SundaySky revealed that 456.6 million content videos were watched, 105.4 billion video ads were seen and 182 million people were viewing videos online. Additionally, 56 percent of web traffic is online video.
In other words, online video was explosive in 2012. People viewed videos at rapidly increasing rates on their smartphones, meaning opportunities were abound for marketing strategists. The report said that 33 percent of marketers will dedicate a part of their budget to mobile video ads in 2012.
