Google continues to roll out search changes

It seems that a day doesn't go by without Google adding a new, helpful update to its library of search engine optimization (SEO) tools. With Google's latest Panda update, otherwise known as Penguin, websites that distribute custom content have benefited the most. The algorithm change provides clear guidelines on how content marketing should be implemented going forward, and businesses would be wise to adhere to the latest requirements, as punishment means getting deindexed from searches.

In conjunction with the Penguin release, Google also expanded its Webmaster Tools historical query data to 90 days. The new report will list the top 2,000 metrics for each day of the selected date range. The history expansion allows users the chance to compile additional traffic-based information.

When selecting a data range, reports will provide users with the total number of queries that brought traffic to the websites, as well as all impressions and clicks the site received. Additional information will include the number of impressions and clicks for the reported top queries and the average position of specific search terms.

Marketers will be able to use the latest changes to the Webmaster Tools in tandem with the Penguin update to improve lead generation practices and boost conversion rates.
