Last year Google promised to not update the Panda algorithm until the holidays were over, according to Search Engine Land. However, this year the search engine decided to change it up for content marketing specialists and introduce its latest Panda on December 21, the 23rd update to the algorithm since its launch in February 2011.
Whereas the previous Panda update only affected 0.8 percent of English queries in late November of this year, the latest update impacts 1.3 percent of queries, said Search Engine Land.
Keeping up to date on Google Panda changes and staying away from Panda penalties requires strategic and smart search engine marketing. Here are three simple things to stay in good favor with Google:
1. Create original, compelling content
The more genuine, relevant and useful the content on the webpage is for readers, the better chance it has with Google's site crawlers and the Panda update.
2. Build links
Spread the word, but do it wisely. Make sure the content will catch the eye of other websites to build the links, but do so at a methodical pace so there is no negative effect.
3. Keep it simple
Providing clean and new content at a consistent pace bodes well with Panda. Also, don't clog up the website with spam, ads or irrelevant information.
