Don’t let social media completely take over

Social media marketers are professional communicators and are expected to consistently spread promotional content over multiple online networking sites. But the constant and extensive research and promotion can oftentimes lead to burnout.

If this is the case, take a deep breath and reboot with these three things in mind:

1. Recognize how the burnout happened
Evaluate where the marketing strategies are being stretched thin, i.e., which sites and/or content are becoming overwhelmingly time-consuming. Organizing this information and looking at the social media marketing tactics from a different point of view can help devise a more stable and structured approach to branding a company online. 

2. Be proactive in establishing boundaries
It's easy to get caught up in spending too much time on social media sites, but creating a controlled schedule can help regulate any online marketing anxiety. Try separating personal and professional social media accounts and setting goals for what either is going to accomplish without wasting precious real-world time.

3. Look into consolidating
Don't let the demands of the online world rule; it should be the other way around. The New York Times listed OnlyWire, Digsby and Netvibes as time-saving sites that manage multiple social media accounts from one program and can post updates at different times of the day.
