LinkedIn is traditionally thought of as a network that allows business professionals to meet each other and mine for potential new job prospects. However, with 161 million members,, LinkedIn can also be a great lead generation tool for small businesses, according to Social Media Examiner. Here are two tips on how to leverage the tool.
1. As with any social network, you get what you put in, so connect as much as you can in order to derive the most benefits possible from LinkedIn. Start with first-degree connections, but where small business owners can really make their money is in targeting second-degree connections. By being proactive, you can find specific targets and introduce yourself. Mentioning your first-degree connection to this person will grant you more trust and credibility, allowing you to talk about your company and its products and services.
2. Using the Advanced Search function, small business owners can effectively cold call without having to actually go through the annoying and unwanted telephone process. Narrowing your search down to very specific details allows you to find ideal targets – such as buyers and decision-makers – and craft your pitch to them.
