Say hello to Panda 20

For some professionals, Google Panda algorithm updates might be old news. However, for other online marketing experts, new updates continue to affect search engine optimization efforts. On September 27, 2012, Google released its most recent Panda 20 refresh. This update is a fairly major upgrade that impacts 2.4 percent of English search queries, and Panda 20 is expected to do more in the days ahead.

Google announced an exact match domain update last week that removed the chance of low-quality websites from ranking well in Google search. However, many non-exact match sites noticed a shift in their pagerank as well. It turns out, concurrent to the exact domain update, the Panda 20 refresh was implemented. Google also promisesd to roll out more algorithm features over the next three to four days.

Google's Matt Cutts said to Search Engine Land that the latest update will also influence other languages such as French and Spanish by approximately 0.5 percent. As Google makes new algorithm updates, webmasters need to optimize their sites using White Hat tactics. To avoid damage caused by new search updates, site owners need quality content that supports brand initiatives, and a keyword strategy that complements business objectives.
