Google's changes highlight need for mobile SEO
There's news for companies looking into mobile SEO. Google has been hard at work maximizing the mobile browsing experience. As customers increasingly use mobile devices to access the Internet, the search engine has recognized the importance of the mobile experience.
Google is testing a new interface for mobile search engine results pages that includes colorful lines separating different links (1). The colored lines make it slightly easier to distinguish between different results than the previous interface, which used light grey divisions.
But that's not all the search engine has unrolled lately. Google also released a rotating carousel function that allows users to scroll through more links from one source (2). If you search for a specific publication, for instance, you will be able to see a carousel of recent articles to choose from.
These two developments are both very new, and it's not yet clear how they will impact mobile SEO. Overall, though, Google is placing more prominence on the role of mobile, and it's something that all businesses need to pay attention to.
