Bing’s local data more complete and accurate than that of Google’s
A large component of search engine marketing is local data. Businesses can find value in ranking highly online for geographically based queries, which have caused many professionals to explore options online on how to appeal to buyers in close proximity to their services. Today, it seems that Bing Local may be the most beneficial search engine to rank highly on according to a recent study.
Implied Intelligence reported in April on the accuracy and completeness of local business search on a variety of platforms, including Yelp, Google Maps, Bing Local, Citysearch, Foursquare, Mapquest, Yahoo Local and major yellow pages sites. At the conclusion of the study, Bing ranked at number four, while Google Maps stood steady at number three. Now, nearly two months later, Bing has climbed in rank, surpassed Google and is tied for the top spot in local search.
Therefore, as an online marketing professional you need to embrace Bing's emergence and utilize it for its lead generation capabilities. Since Bing merged with Yahoo and garnered a large portion of the search market share, you need to optimize for its algorithms similarly to how you appeal to Google's demands. This includes registering on Bing Local directories and regularly monitoring website analytics to make sure traffic is finding the information they need across a variety of hubs, including Bing.
