Google Mobile Search Results Now Showing Images
Google is now showing image thumbnails in the mobile search results for select queries. A recent review by SearchEngineLand.com of Google’s mobile searches revealed that the queries that are affected seem to be product-based queries where the user might find an image of the product useful. Archive studies showed that Google was testing this function in August 2016 and it now appears that they have rolled it out for all mobile searchers.
Various types of product searches were performed and, according to SearchEngineLand.com, the results revealed that the mobile search results show photos over a wide range of products. This search capability includes not only the products themselves (such as cars), but also variations on the theme such as types of cars and colors of cars.
How will this impact your mobile marketing? If you have a Google AdWords campaign for products but you have not included photos of the products in your ads, now is the time to do so. Adding a photo to a search result can lead to better click-through rates.
This also helps when you are creating mobile content. Adding photos wherever possible will make your listing in the search engine results even more compelling for the prospect.
