There’s Still Time to Tune Up Your Marketing for the Second Quarter
Every year businesses create a new set of marketing goals, lay out the strategies and tactics and then launch them with great enthusiasm. While it may seem like 2016 has barely started, the first quarter is already over and we’re halfway through the second. Now is the time to review the results of your marketing programs and ask: “Did we achieve the marketing goals for the first quarter?”
If you have completed a first-quarter review, the results are likely to fall into one of three categories:
1. You’re on track and meeting or beating your goals
Congratulations! Record the strategies and tactics that worked so that you can repeat them in the future.
2. You haven’t implemented the scheduled programs/activities yet
If you haven’t implemented any of the programs, examine the reason. Is this temporary, or is it caused by a specific problem? By examining the reasons you’ll be able to move forward in the next quarter.
3. You have completed the tasks outlined in the plan, but you’re not getting the desired results
Examine the programs. Maybe it will take a little longer than expected to achieve the results. Or maybe the programs don’t fit the audience and need to be modified. If so, do so. There’s no shame in revising a plan that’s not working.
In summary, take the time to review the first quarter’s results. By doing so you’ll be on track to reaching your goals with no surprises at the end of the year.
