Google Planning Continuous Penguin Updates

Google Planning Continuous Penguin UpdatesWaiting for the dust to settle following the latest Penguin update? You may not want to get too comfortable, as it looks like you won’t be able to relax anytime soon.

Google hasn’t finished updating Penguin, and in fact plans to do continual updates to the algorithm on an ongoing basis. For those businesses whose sites have been affected by one of the numerous recent Penguin updates, this may not be good news.

The latest version of Penguin (dubbed Penguin 3.0) was released back in mid-October, and a series of updates have been reported (though in most cases, not confirmed by Google) since Thanksgiving. A Google rep said the last big Penguin update is still rolling out, and there won’t actually be a formal endpoint since the company is switching to continuous updates so as to keep optimizing along the way.

Unfortunately, this likely isn’t welcome news for businesses that were impacted by any of the recent updates, or those who are nervous that their turn is coming.

As we have said in the past, there really isn’t much you can do to prepare for these updates, especially since Google is always so tight-lipped with specific details. The best strategy continues to be to constantly analyze (and try to improve) your search engine optimization process and make it a top priority to follow best practices and adhere to Google’s policies and guidelines.

KEO Marketing can handle all aspects of your search engine optimization strategy, and help to ensure you are less vulnerable to fallout from algorithm updates.
