Social Media: New Facebook Pages Available to All
The new Facebook Pages have arrived and are now available to everyone. Facebook first announced the new look for Pages back in March, and some businesses have already been getting a chance to try out the design. But now it is available to everyone, so if you haven’t already made the transition, you will be doing so soon.
What exactly does the new look entail? Well, at first glance it looks very similar to the latest configuration for personal pages: a one-column newsfeed scrolling down the right side of the page, with general information about you (or more accurately, your business) going down the left side. This is where visitors would find important details like your phone number, location, business hours and website address.
Facebook has been emphasizing the streamlined look of the new design, and says it’s more user-friendly because the administrator tools you use most are now easier to find. Stats related to your reach, page likes and current ads are visible and easy to access from anywhere on your Page. There are also new navigation options at the top of the Page, so you can quickly get to your settings, stats and activity log.
You also have some ability to customize your design a bit, because you can rearrange the location or order of some of the Page elements such as your apps or the business information located in the left-hand column.
Those who like to keep a close eye on the competition will really enjoy the new Pages to Watch feature. This lets you create a list of pages of your competitors (or anyone else) and track their stats so you can see how your own Page stacks up in comparison.
You don’t have a choice about switching to the new design, but you can postpone the inevitable for a short time. Once you take a tour of the new look, you have a choice of switching immediately or waiting. If you need time to get prepared or revise your images and other content, you can delay the switch-over for up to two weeks.
We know this new setup will take some getting used to, but we are always in favor of anything that makes social media more user-friendly and easier for marketers to manage. However, if you need help with your Facebook account or any part of your social media strategy, KEO Marketing can handle that for you.
