Leverage The New Facebook Timeline Design For Social Media Campaign Strategy

Last week, Facebook announced it will be making some big changes to the News Feed and how companies. The changes will include a sleeker and more consistent design across all devices. A more visual Facebook is going to allow companies to leverage their social campaign in a whole new way.

Photos and video have been gaining more and more ground on the timeline and now Facebook is giving them even more weight on edgerank. In a study done by Hubspot, photos generated 53% more likes and 104% more comments. This interaction is what increases a company’s edgerank on facebook.

So what does a company’s campaign have to look like to make sure they are leveraging the new timeline? A visual campaign that entices fans to engage in content. Publishing more visual and compelling content will garner more interaction with your fans which will increase the impressions of your posts.

The interaction is important because the new timeline will allow Facebook users to “turn off” sponsored and ‘liked’ pages in the News Feed. That does not mean a company’s post will altogether be lost. If a friend of a user interacts with your post, it will show up in that user’s ‘Friends’ feed. That is why it is important to publish relevant, short and visual posts.
