IT Purchasing Goes Social on LinkedIn
In a recent LinkedIn study of nearly 1,200 global IT decision-makers conducted by Forrester Research, it was determined that nearly three-quarters of tech buyers engage with IT vendors on social networks as part of their initial decision making process.
This report entitled. “IT Purchasing Goes Social” shows that within the technological sector that the decision making process is becoming more and more of an interactive process and IT departments are becoming more involved.
The survey points out that:
- 85% of IT decision-makers use at least one social network for business purposes (85% of which use LinkedIn, followed my microblogs and personal social networks)
- 73% have engaged with a vendor on a social network
- 54% of tech buyers said they are influenced by social media
- 58% of respondents say they use social networks for business purposes and are learning from trustworthy peers
IT decision-makers are developing a trusted presence on the most relevant business channels and communicating during their entire purchasing process. They are also 3x more connected, 4x more likely to follow tech companies on LinkedIn and 40% more likely to use LinkedIn today in comparison to the average professional, placing them towards the top of active LinkedIn users.
