Top 10 Lead Generation Tactics of 2012
Lead generation is often at the front of any executive’s mind on daily basis. What is effective, what isn’t, what is generating the most leads at the lowest cost and finally, how do we nurture those leads into sales? Luckily, the pros at MECLABS which is the parent company of MarketingExperiments and MarketingSherpa, both well know marketing research-based firms, decided to conduct a survey to see what the top 10 lead generation tactics are.
The question was this, “Please indicate the level of effectiveness (in terms of achieving objectives) for each of the lead generation tactics your organization is using. The answers, in order of their effectiveness was this:
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Paid Search (PPC)
- Website optimization, management or design
- Email Marketing
- Content Marketing
- Direct Mail
- Mobile Marketing
- Social Media
- Print Advertising
It’s no surprise that SEO made the #1 spot and print advertising made the #11 spot (so, technically not in the top 10) but it will be interesting to see how social media and mobile marketing shift as the current trends show that lead generation using social media and mobile marketing is beginning to catch fire.
