Freshness is the fifth of eight SEO elements unaffected by Google’s changing algorithms. In addition to relevant information, a website must deliver fresh content regularly.  The world doesn’t stand still, so neither should your website!

If you spend time searching the web and you look at certain websites repeatedly, you undoubtedly have noticed information, design and layouts changing from time to time.  Freshness indicates your site keeps up with a constantly changing environment.

In terms of Google rankings, freshness contributes significantly, especially for news rankings.  So, keep you content updated, add new stuff regularly, link it internally and syndicate it on social media.

Finally, make sure you register your site with Google, as well as submit your sitemap.  If you operate a news site, register it with Google News Index.
