Web Marketing in Phoenix: Twitter Updates Web Site

Twitter recently announced that it plans to update its Web site by adding a new pane that will make it easier for users to view photos and videos. This update is expected to compel users to linger on the Web site for longer periods of time as well as visit more frequently, which will make it a more attractive advertising vehicle.

The update, expected to roll out in the month of September, will split the Web site into two planes. One is devoted to the 90 million tweets posted on the site each day, while the other features the images contained in the text. Most links to photos and video are currently displayed on other browser tabs or Web sites.

The Web site’s left pane will look familiar to Twitter users, featuring a timeline of chronologically stacked tweets from the tweeters the user is following. The right panel will allow users to click on individual tweets and view imbedded images and other information without having to navigate away from the page. Twitter hopes this update will allow users to get more out of Twitter in less time.
